HE'S STILL WORKIN' ON METhere is a song by Joel Hemphill called "He's Still Workin' On Me" and is
copyrighted by Hemphill Music Company/BMI. Encourage the children to sing the song with you. Ask their Sunday School teachers to
teach it to them ahead of time. Questions to ask the children: How old are you? Do you ever feel really bad after doing something you wished you hadn't? Do you ever get punished for the same thing twice? Does it seem like you'll never get it all together? How many years it take for God to finish making us? Let's ask _*________. He/she is graduating from high school now. Maybe God is finished
making him. _*________ is the great basket ball coach that led the _______ High School team to win
the _________ this year. That's really good. Maybe God is finished making him. What about _*________? Surely he/she has it all together by now.... Wow! How old to you have to get???? Let's ask _*________. I bet he/she has it all together by now! How long does God keep working on us? All our lifetime, that's how long. Let's sing the chorus one more time, and invite the congregation to sing with us. Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You that You are so careful to make each and
every one of us. We thank You too, that You don't stop working in our lives when we are
three or four years old, but that You continue to make us ready to live with You every day
that we live. Help us to please You in all that we do. And draw each of these children
unto Yourself that they will each one want to please and serve You every day of their
lives. Amen. * Choose 3-4 individuals from your congregation who would be willing to share personal
ways in which God is still working on them. Call on them in order beginning with the
youngest and ending with the oldest. Contact them ahead of time so they will be prepared
with a well thought out but brief answer. |
